Pandemic boosts Memphis-style industry: Distribution
July 17, 2020
The second quarter passing entirely under the shadow of COVID-19 was a strong three months for industrial real estate in the Memphis area.
That’s according to Cushman & Wakefield/Commercial Advisors’ Industrial Market Report for the Memphis area in April, May and June.
A net 2.6 million square feet of warehouse and industrial space was absorbed, meaning businesses leased that much more space than they vacated during the spring.
The vacancy rate for the area – including Shelby, Fayette, DeSoto and Marshall counties – dropped from 6.5% to 5.8%.
