Principal
Kemp is consistently one of the top brokers in the region and he leads the firms Memphis Industrial team. This team of five professionals focuses on 1) institutional leasing, 2) local occupier representation, and 3) global portfolio solutions. Locally, the team is engaged leasing over 22 msf space for the world’s largest and most respected institutional owners. The team handles the global real estate needs of long-term clients with a worldwide footprint of over 45 msf and is a leading advisor to industrial and office occupiers locally. Over his twenty-year career, Kemp has completed transactions in 35 states and 23 countries. He has also completed a wide range of strategic planning and transaction assignments with a focus on creative deal-making focused on benchmark and metric creation and measurement. On multiple occasions he was named one of the top 20 industrial brokers in the country by Cushman & Wakefield, a designation given annually to the top three percent of Cushman & Wakefield brokers based on fee generation.
Kemp is also the only two-time recipient of C&W’s Industrial platform “Culture of Oneness” award, an accolade for his selfless service to Cushman & Wakefield’s industrial platform. As a collaborator internally, Kemp serves on the Cushman & Wakefield Industrial & Supply Chain Advisory Board. This committee consists of only ten C&W professionals in the U.S. out of 600+, and he is the only member from an Alliance firm on the Board. This group serves as the Board of Directors for the Americas industrial platform.
In 2021, he was recognized as voted on by his peers as the Memphis Association of Realtors “Wyatt B. Aiken Commercial Broker of the Year”, the highest award given by the organization for an active practitioner based on excellence in, and service to the industry and community.
He also holds a SIOR, dual designation for both office and industrial, which only 152, or 5%, of SIOR designees hold out of over 3,100.
Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Kemp was the Memphis City Leader for Trammell Crow Co.
Kemp was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and earned his MBA from the Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt University. His BA is from Rhodes. Kemp has won three elections, serving on the Memphis City Council for eleven years, representing half of the city – approximately 350,000 people. He was elected unanimously by his peers as Vice Chairman of the body in 2015, and as Chairman in 2016 and 2019. He is also a past member of the Board of Trustees of the National Civil Rights Museum.
When not working, time is invested in family, yoga, alpine skiing, travel, volunteering & mentoring youth. I started triathlon in 2020 and in 2021 earned status as an Ironman All World Athlete and also competed in the age group national championships in the sprint and olympic distance.
